CHALLENGES

"We are constantly exposed to harsh weather conditions such as heavy rains and strong winds. Our living conditions are very basic and we have no proper doors or windows. This makes us vulnerable to theft and other security risks. We have also had incidents of wildlife entering our living quarters, which poses a threat to our safety and well-being." - Leader Justine Nabooso quoted a target beneficiary, Mosi Abidemi

POTENTIAL IMPACT
"In this community, there are 32 shelters with an average of 4 people per household. The members of the community who have building experience and knowledge suggest that we focus on 4 main repairs: Installation of sturdy doors and windows that can withstand harsh weather conditions and provide security against theft and other security risks, installation of fences or barriers to keep wildlife at a safe distance from the living quarters, repairment of roofs to prevent water from entering the shelter, and sealing of walls to close off the living quarters."

Doors and Windows Constructions

The following report outlines the successful installation of windows and doors using wood materials. Wood is a natural insulator, helping to keep the interior of the homes warm in the cold season and cool in the hot season. It is also a renewable resource, making it an environmentally friendly choice. Wood is a durable material that can withstand harsh weather conditions, making it ideal for use in remote areas where weather can be unpredictable.
